Wedding Dress on Headless Mannequin

A lifelong creative, seamstress,

and graduate from FIT with

a certificate in Fashion Design from Parsons School

of Design. Debra has created

the concierge service of

Debra Rose Alterations.  She

enjoys helping you to express

your creativity and explore

new aspects of your personality

through fashion.

Debra Rose, owner and seamstress

of Debra Rose Alterations, is the

granddaughter of a master

seamstress, Ottavia De Candia,

who came to America with very

little understanding of the English

language, from Molfetta, Italy.

Ottavia was skilled at creating

all types of fashion from patterns

she made herself from muslin.

Debra was always in awe of this

and decided to do the same with

little instruction.

At the age of 7, Debra custom-

designed her Barbie's outfits

and continued to design

costumes for people, and various pieces without patterns. During high school, she created dresses,

suits, and skirts for various

events. This led her to pursuing

an education in fashion design.

Once enrolled, she

switched majors since

she found that she also had

a passion for writing and

illustration. Debra continued

to sew and create one-of

a-kind outfits. Later, she

began tailoring wedding,

bridal, and prom gowns,

re-designing dresses/gowns,

and more, which she

continues to do.

Since 1988, Debra has been helping others to create lifelong memories

through fashion for their

special events and daily lives.
